Similar to Contractor Insurance, there are two main types of basic coverage available with Construction Insurance. General Liability protects a contractor from losses as a result of accidents, property damage or defective work. Commercial Auto Coverage protects vehicles used in the operation of a construction business, including those used to transport workers, tools and/or equipment. Coverage may be available for permanently attached accessories such as ladder racks and toolboxes, although the tools and materials themselves typically aren’t covered. In most cases, a company will be required to obtain construction insurance before beginning a job.
